It's been a good weekend so far, went out friday night and saturday, friday I went to the delta upsilon formal with my friend from 7N, Peng Gao! It was bunches of fun , I had a really nice time. Then last night me and the boys went back to DU for a little soiree, i dont think the boys had much fun tho. I had a blast! I love the people there, they are so friendly. But yeah, all on the agenda for today is homework. Soooo fun... lata | | |

| As I was going for my run today, I passed a yard that had the property line division posted with a large piece of rope anchored to two metal posts. I thought to myself, "Wow, that person must like their privacy to go to such lengths to divide themselves from their neighbors." But then as I passed the next house, that made me notice two lines of shrubs in the same general area, and at the next house, shrubs on one side and a concrete partition on the other and at least four houses had fences completely surounding the property. As I stood there and looked all up and down the street, I came to a shocking epiphany. These cute little blocks of houses in suburbia give off the impression of togetherness and unity, when actually each house has gone to great lengths to segregate itself. Why as humans do we insist on building walls, blocking us from our fellow man? We should rejoice in the togetherness that we have been created to need and enjoy. Tests done on orphaned premature babies showed that the infants that maintained human contact thrived and grew while those who were left alone except to be fed grew sickly and showed much less chance of survival. People need people, simple as that. So why, then, can we be so ignorant of the bond we share with every person, not just those we associate with? People do reach out in the simplest ways, such as holding open a door, but do we really think of others as real people with real lives, thoughts, feelings and dreams, just like you? Every single person that we secretly curse in a long line in the supermarket has a mother, a dream, a fear, and a life story that could be a best selling novel. People need people. We are all part of something greater than ourselves, more infinite than our own lives. It blows my mind just to think about it. | | |
